- Boy Chinchilla about 2 years old. My son is starting college and no longer has the time to care for him. Very nice boy was purchased from Petco. We want to place him in a good home. Chinchillas generally do not like small children, so if you have small children this might not be the right pet. Teenagers and up would be best.
