These are very rare Yapok Water Opossums native to South America. They’re the only aquatic opossum species, they have webbed feet and enlarged front fingers for catching fish. They’re also one of only 2 marsupials that both male and female have a pouch. The other species is now thought to be extinct, these are likely the only living species exhibiting this trait. Another unique characteristic is the females pouch has a sphincter to close off the pouch, and keep her young dry while she swims foraging for food. We will consider the sale of this trio to an approved facility. It’s exciting to see them here in the USA finally after years of effort and research. This is an amazing breeding opportunity for a facility interested in working with this truly special and unique species. To our knowledge this is the first time this species has been offered for sale in the USA in decades. Serious inquiries only, we are USDA licensed.
